Several of these abstracts remind us of G7 and post-impressionistic styles, particularly Winter Shadows, Winter Woods, Late Afternoon, and Patterns in Nature. Each is visually stirring as it captures something anciently familiar about Canadian outdoors. Island Secret Spot is a deeper painting; it's style is not easily stuck in a category because its colour and texture are perfectly unique. There are obvious traces of shade, line and texture that we know from earlier times or places. But this painting more than any of its siblings captures a momentary human experience in a vernacular of it's own.
